Softball Drops A Pair To Waynesburg

MUNHALL, Pa. - Softball hosted the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets for a doubleheader Wednesday night at West Field. They dropped both contests, losing game one 3-0 and game two 12-0 in five innings.

In game one, the Yellow Jackets got on the board in the opening half when Trinity Edge hit a double to left field. Neither team was able to push another run across until the sixth. Waynesburg got the two final runs of the game thanks to some key and situational hitting. Waynesburg defeated Chatham 3-0.

Sophomore Irene Martin had the lone hit for the Cougars. Sophomore Victoria Murren went 5.2 innings, keeping the Yellow Jacket bats in check. Murren scattered four hits, three runs, eight walks, and six strikeouts. Wilson for Waynesburg continued her impressive season as she went the distance, allowing one hit, two walks, and had 10 strikeouts.

In game two, Waynesburg grabbed the lead early and never looked back. After two innings, they led 2-0 and added 10 runs within the third and fourth inning to lead 12-0 after four. Neither team would score in the fifth which would end the game.
