PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Feb. 16, 2024 - Women's Squash advanced to the College Squash Association Team Championships semifinals with their win over Connecticut College (9-9). The men were defeated by Williams (14-7) in the Hoehn Cup Quarterfinal.
On the women's side, five of their six wins were sweeps. Senior Sofia Ramos Fortaneli (11-1, 11-4, 11-8), sophomore Basmala Syed Aref (11-6, 11-4, 11-2), sophomore Vasundhra Vasanthan (11-7, 11-3, 11-4), sophomore Sophia Pinto (11-3, 11-5, 11-7) and freshman Clara Braga (11-3, 11-6, 11-4) all swept their opponents.
For the men, sophomore Sebastian Antonio Vaca Sanchez (11-6, 6-11, 8-11, 7-11) and junior Haidar Jafry (9-11, 8-11, 7-11) earned the two wins for Chatham.
The women's next match will be against Franklin and Marshall at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The men will also compete against Franklin and Marshall in the consolation round at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
