HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Feb. 10, 2024 - The Cougars were swept by both Geneva (10-7, 0-0) and Juniata (7-4) extending their losing streak to three. For both matches, Chatham hit below .100 and amassed 24 service errors. On the year, the men are now 3-8.
In match one, freshman
Benjamin Shelestak had a match-high 19.5 points with 17 kills and two service aces. Senior
Coulter Chaffee (16) and freshman
Alex Moncello (10) combined for 26 of the Cougars' 27 assists. Defensively, freshmen
Kyle Penn (13),
Luis Carrasquillo (11) and Shelestak (10) all registered double-digit digs.
In match two, the Cougars hit .056 as Juniata was beyond efficient, hitting .404. Freshmen
Tim McCabe (9) and Shelestak (8) combined for 17 kills and were the two leading attackers, netting .217 and .091 respectively. Chaffee accounted for 14 of Chatham's 19 assists. Shelestak (2) was the lone player to earn an ace.
Defending Juniata, this was the best an opponent has hit against Chatham all year. The Cougars had a season-low 18 digs led by Carrasquillo's five.
Overall, the Cougars struggled to keep their service errors below double digits for a stretch of now eight straight matches.
