ANGOLA, Ind. - Chatham Women's Hockey (0-7-1, 0-4-0) fell 5-1 to the Trine Thunder (3-2-2, 2-2-2) on Tuesday at the Thunder Ice Arena.
Trine opened up the scoring 6:04 into the opening period by burying a rebound after a shot from the point. Chatham killed off a penalty midway through the frame and kept the game at 1-0.Â
The Cougars would tie the game at 1 in the second period when
Karalyn Luby forced a turnover on the forecheck and scored on a backhand shot. The Thunder scored four times in the third period, including once on the power play, to pull away for the victory.
Shots on goal were 34-18 in favor of the Thunder. Luby had three shots on goal for the Cougars, while goaltender
Lindsey Batz made 29 saves for Chatham.
Women's Hockey will return tomorrow for game two of the series at Trine.
