FREDONIA, N.Y. - Jan. 26, 2024 - Men's Hockey ended their five-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over Fredonia (4-13-1). Chatham's Overall record improves to 6-12-0, but their conference record stays at 4-10-0.
The Blue Devils were first to light the lamp at the 17:30 mark of the opening period. The shots on goal were even at eight, but Chatham entered the second down a score.
Midway through the second period, sophomore
Cristian Adragna tied the game off assists from junior
Liam Murphy and senior
Aidan Girduckis. The shots on goal favored Fredonia 13-8, but freshman
Louis Finnegan thwarted all attempts. The score was 1-1 entering the final period.
At the 8:30 mark of the third, freshman
Nicholas Babbie skipped a pass to junior
Zack Conner for his third goal of the season. This point proved to be the game-winner even as Girduckis netted an empty net goal to bring the final score to 3-1.
Six Cougars contributed seven points in the win. This game was the second time Chatham held their opponent to one goal. In his seventh game, Finnegan made 29 saves on 30 shots (.967).
Men's Hockey will host Fredonia on Saturday at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.
