READING, Pa. - Jan. 21, 2024 - The Cougars split their weekend series with the Golden Wolves (9-6-2, 7-5-2) after allowing three goals in the third period. Chatham (8-4-3, 6-4-2) has gone 2-4-2 since its six-game winning streak at the beginning of the year. 

The first two periods were scoreless as both teams totaled 17 shots on goal. There was only one penalty heading into the final period as opposed to Saturday's 10. 

In the final period, Alvernia scored at the 4:47 mark, which proved to be the game-winning goal. The shot count favored the Golden Wolves 19-10 in the third, who ended the game with two more scores on power plays. Overall, Alvernia led the shot count 36-27. 

The 3-0 loss was the first shutout this season for the Cougars. Junior Lindsey Batz made 33 saves on 36 shots, tying for the second most of her career. 

The Purple and Grey will host Lebanon Valley on Friday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m.
