PITTSBURGH, Pa. - January 13, 2024 - Chatham Men's Basketball (10-6, 8-3) earned its largest win of the season with a 78-52 win over the Wolverines of Grove City (8-7, 5-6) on Saturday at the Athletics and Fitness Center. The Cougars were 14-34 (41.2%) from three-point range and held the Wolverines to 4-17 (23.5%) from long range.
Junior guard
Isaiah Smith went off for a season-high 21 points on a career-high seven three-pointers. Smith is second in the PAC with 3.0 three-pointers made per game. Sophomore guard
Diaun Pinkett scored seven points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds to go along with five assists. Pinkett ranks fourth in the conference at 8.6 rebounds per game this season. Senior forward
Luca Robinson, who transferred to Chatham from Grove City, scored 10 points on 5-8 shooting and contributed seven boards. Senior wing
Geoffrey Helm was the other Cougar in double-figures at 11 points.
Both offenses started slow, but the Wolverines much slower than the Cougars as Chatham built an 8-0 lead over the first 6:12. After Grove City scored their first two buckets, the Cougars went on a 21-5 run with eight different players scoring to lead by 20. The Wolverines were 5-30 (16.7%) from the field and 0-8 from deep in the first half. The second half was all Chatham all the way as the Wolverines never came within 15 points and the Cougars led by as many as 30.
Chatham shot 44.4% (28-63) from the field and 66.7% (8-12) from the line. The Cougars won the board battle 45-35 and never allowed the Wolverines to lead at any point.
Men's Basketball will head to Beaver Falls to face Geneva on Wednesday in a battle of the second and third place teams of the conference thus far.
