PITTSBURGH, Pa. - September 20, 2023 - Chatham Women's Soccer suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Grove City (4-3) to open PAC play Wednesday night. The Cougars fall to 1-4-2 on the season.

The Wolverines scored the match's first goal on a penalty kick in the 17th minute following a foul in the box. Sophomore Ainsley Smith would respond for the Cougars to tie the game in the 27th minute when an assist from junior Lauren Hall sprung her into a break away chance. Following that tally, however, it would be all Grove City from then on out, with four more goals putting the match out of reach.

Smith's four goals on the year lead the Cougars and rank in the top-10 in the PAC. Junior Katie Krecek made her first start of the season in goal for Chatham and stopped 15 shots.

Grove City took 18 shots on goal to just three for Chatham. Corner kicks were 7-2 in favor of the Wolverines.

Women's Soccer hits the field again Saturday evening at Waynesburg.
