Dominant Serving Leads The Cougars Past The Defenders

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (Sept. 2, 2023) - The Cougars tallied a total of 24 service aces in their sweep (25-6, 25-12, 25-9) of The Clarks Summit Defenders. In game one of Chatham's doubleheader, the serving game was the team's calling card, outscoring their opponent 49-8.

Nine Cougars recorded an ace in this matchup. Leading the way were seniors Jena Williams and Kylie Hawke with seven and five respectively. Freshman Ava Plunkard and junior Aaleyiah Williams both contributed three.

The other key component to Chatham's success was the team's attacking game. The difference in kills favored the Cougars, who connected on 25 of their 47 total attacks. Aaleyiah Williams (5 K), Alyssa Leskovac (5 K) and Amelia Bogovich (4 K) led the way. The amount of offense generated by this match did not stop the defense from making their impact.

The team defended 19 attacks, with junior Natalie Keough contributing a team-leading four digs.

Women's Volleyball starts the season 2-0 overall and has one more matchup against the tournament host Lycoming.
