PITTSBURGH, Pa. - September 2, 2023 - Chatham Men's Soccer earned a convincing 5-0 road win over the La Roche Redhawks Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Cougars improve to 1-1 on the young season.
The scoring was opened in the 14th minute by Cougar freshman
Azavier Coppin's first career goal and his first of two in the match. Coppin's goal was assisted by sophomore midfielder
Sam Schoensee. Chatham increased its lead to 2-0 just four minutes later when sophomore forward
Pearse Bialowas netted his first goal of the season.
First year forwards
Camden Manahan and Brendan Waggoner each tallied their first career goals in the 37th and 85th minutes, respectively.
In goal for the Cougars,
Maxwell Cottrill made six saves to secure the shutout in his collegiate debut.
Chatham registered 12 shots on goal to La Roche's six and the Cougars took 10 corner kicks.
Men's Soccer hits Graham Field for their home opener on Tuesday as they take on Fredonia.
