PITTSBURGH, Pa. - May 4, 2023 - Chatham Baseball lost on Senior Night 9-7 to the Hiram Terriers after erasing a 7-0 deficit. The Cougars fall to 18-17 on the season.
Hiram got on the board first with three runs in the top of the fourth and four more in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead. The Cougars answered for four runs in the bottom half of the fifth. First-year outfielder
Peter Tadic homered to dead center to drive in three runs, then junior outfielder
Dylan Vogel stole home on a double steal.Â
Then, in the sixth, the Cougars picked up another run when Vogel earned an RBI by bunting home sophomore first baseman
Quinn Burke. Chatham tied the game in the eighth when graduate catcher
Caleb Lehman hit an infield single that drove in two runs on a Hiram throwing error. In the top of the ninth, the Terriers plated two runs on two sac flies to retake the lead.
Peter Tadic had three RBI on his home run. Juniors
Jake Bredl and
Frankie DeLuca each went 2-5 at the plate.
Senior pitcher
JJ Shibest started on the mound for Chatham and retired all four batters he faced.
Baseball will wrap up its season Saturday with a road doubleheader against Grove City.
