Softball Drops Non-Conference Contests to Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - March 21, 2023 - Chatham Softball hosted Carnegie Mellon tonight in a non-conference double-header. The Tartans would defeat the Cougars 12-1 and 5-1.

In game one, seniors Mackenzie Dunn, Kaitlyn Collins, and Alyssa Hoffman each registered a hit. The lone RBI came from junior Savanna Ahlborn, who scored Hoffman on a sacrifice bunt.

In the circle, first-year Victoria Murren struck out three batters in the 35 at-bats for the Tartans.

Game two saw a team-high two hits from sophomore Isabelle Griswold, while Dunn, Ahlborn, and senior Lauren Haak each tallied one. It would be Dunn to claim the RBI in this game, doing so in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly.

First-year Chelsea Stabile pitched five innings, tallying one strikeout. Classmate Cailyn Lucas came in in relief, also registering one strikeout.

The Cougars stand at 3-11 overall ahead of conference play, set to begin on Saturday, March 21st against Saint Vincent College.
