GREENSBURG, Pa. - March 21, 2023 - Chatham Baseball split its Tuesday afternoon doubleheader at Pitt Greensburg with a 20-9 mercy-rule win in game 1 and a 7-6 loss in game two. The Cougars remaining even on the season with a 7-7 record.
The Bobcats scored five runs in the bottom of the second, but the Cougars roared back for 10 runs in the top of the third. The innings featured four multi-RBI hits for Chatham, including two-RBI singles from senior third baseman
Brandon Griener, junior
Jake Bredl and graduate outfielder
Nico Cuello. The Cougars scored a pair of runs in the fourth with Bredl doubling to score sophomore first baseman
Quinn Burke and junior infielder
Benny Dottle singling to score Bredl. Then in the fifth, Bredl tripled to score Cuello and sophomore
Tyler Cote. Chatham scored another six runs in the seventh innings, with the highlight being a grand slam from Cuello.Â
Cuello ended the first game going 3-6 with six RBI and two runs scored. Six RBI is the most in the game in Chatham history. Bredl was 4-4 with five RBI. Graduate pitcher

20 runs in a game is the most in program history for the Cougars.
The Cougars offense picked up where it left off to start game two, with four runs in the first inning, including another two runs batted in from Cuello. An RBI single from Cuello in the second gave Chatham a 5-0 lead, but Pitt Greensburg cut it to 5-3 with a three-run second. After Dottle singled to drive in freshman infielder
Jason Boller, the Bobcats stormed back to score two in fifth and two in the seventh to caputred the win.
Cuello went 2-3 with three RBI in the second game. Dottle was 3-4 and scored two runs.
Baseball is back with another road doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Thiel to open up PAC play.
