FREDERICK, MD - March 15, 2023 - Chatham Men's Lacrosse axed their three-game losing streak tonight against the undefeated Hood College Blazers. Despite the Blazers starting the game with a 2-0 lead, the Cougars would bounce back for a 8-4 victory on the road.

Two Blazer goals within the first five minutes of the game were quickly evened out thanks to junior Riley Lewis and first-year Thomas Whitaker, assisted by classmate Matt Woodall. The Cougars would even pull ahead after a goal from junior Isaac Joshi to round out the quarter.

Early in the second, first-year Jacob Lubawy found the back of the net to double the Cougars' lead. The Blazers would re-tie the game at four, but the even slate was short-lived. First-year Alex Stanuikynas would score the game-winner off of a pass from Lubawy, as Chatham's defense kept Hood from making any offensive progress for the remainder of the game

To begin the third, Lubawy scored his second goal of the night, with an assist coming from junior Jett Davis. Sophomore Ethan Rinker and first-year Matt Woodall would follow Lubawy's lead in the fourth, extending their final goal count to double that of the hosting Blazers. First-year Trent Griffin recorded the final assist of the game on Woodall's effort.

Sophomore goalkeeper Zen Smith was strong in net for the Cougars, making 17 saves. Senior Clark Styles picked up a team-high six ground balls while also going 8-for-16 on face-offs. First-years Dylan Wanichko and Thomas Whitaker both caused a team-high two turnovers.

The Cougars now stand at 3-4 overall with just two non-conference contests remaining. They will host Neumann on Saturday, March 18th at noon for Pittsburgh Lacrosse Youth Day.
