Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Women’s Hockey Suffers OT Loss to Mustangs

REISTERSTOWN, MD - February 3, 2022 - Women's Hockey traveled to Stevenson University this afternoon for a UCHC matchup against the hosting Mustangs. With Stevenson up 2-0 after the first period, Chatham would come back so far as to force overtime at 4-4, but ultimately fell on a Stevenson power-play.

The Mustang offense wasted no time getting to work, putting up two goals by the halfway point of the period. The Cougars would not find their footing until the second period when they scored two straight goals of their own.

The first of which was scored by junior Allison Corser-James on the power-play after she capitalized on a setup from sophomore Rainey Jessup. Just over a minute later, junior Ally Nolan would find the back of the net on the Stevenson power-play, having picked up a clear from classmate Ariel Garbin.

Stevenson would take some time to respond with a goal, but even that was nullified by another Chatham goal scored by Ally Nolan. The power-play equalizer was assisted by Corser-James and senior Brooke Almond.

The Cougars pulled ahead in the third, with Corser-James scoring her second of the night and Almond tallying her second assist. Unfortunately, Stevenson would fire back to re-tie the game with just seven minutes remaining in regulation.

A penalty in overtime would doom the Cougars as the Mustangs earned an extra man, who scored at the 2.5 minute mark.

The Cougars are back in action tomorrow against the Mustangs at 3 PM as they look to even out the weekend.
