PITTSBURGH, Pa. - February 20, 2023 - Four-seeded Chatham Women's Basketball earned a victory in the quarterfinals Monday night over the visiting five-seed Allegheny Gators. The Cougars will advance to the semifinals to face the one-seeded Washington & Jefferson Presidents on the road on Wednesday night. The win was Chatham's 18th of the season, which is a new program record.
Sophomore guard
Ashlie Louden scored 28 points on 11-14 shooting, including five triples. Louden continues her scoring tear, averaging 20.7 points per game over the last six. First year forward
Alyssa Laukus notched her first career double-double, tallying 14 points and 10 rebounds. First year guard
Hannah Chenault, who was named PAC Rookie of the Week today, had a productive day on the stat sheet. She scored 16 points and recorded a team-leading six assists to go along with three steals.
Chatham put the pressure on early with a 17-6 lead midday into the first and ended the quarter with a 23-15 lead. The Cougars led by double-digits for nearly the entire second quarter, but couldn't find their way to a lead bigger than 14. That changed in the fourth when the offense opened it up and led by as many as 20 points.
Chatham made 12 three-pointers compared to just five for Allegheny. The Cougars shot 46.7% (28-60) from the field and held the Gators to 30.7% (23-75). Chatham tallied 17 assists while Allgheny had only six.
