PITTSBURGH, Pa. - February 18, 2023 - Chatham Women's Basketball earned a 76-38 blowout win over the Franciscan Barons Saturday afternoon at the AFC. WIth the win, the Cougars end the regular season 17-7 and 14-6 in the PAC. 17 wins matches the Cougars program best in a season, set last year.
Freshman guard
Hannah Chenault led the team with 13 points on 5-11 shooting with three three-pointers. Sophomore guards
Emily Durkee and
Ashlie Louden each scored in double-figures, with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Sophomore forward
Samantha Hardy scored eight points and pulled down a season-high 10 rebounds.
The Cougars defense showed out in the first quarter, holding the Barons to just five points. In the second quarter, Chatham pulled away, leading by 18 points going into the half. In the second half, the Cougars led by as many as 41 points, with the defense staying strong the entire way.
Chatham out rebounded Franciscan 51-44 and won the turnover battle 25-14. The Cougars shot 40% (28-70) from the field while holding the Barons to just 22.8% (13-57). Chatham was 32.3% (10-31) from deep and hit 10+ threes for the 14th time this year.
Women's Basketball has earned the four seed in the PAC Tournament and will face Allegheny at home on Monday in the quarterfinals.
