PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - February 17, 2023 - Chatham Women's Squash earned its first-ever postseason match victory Friday morning at the College Squash Association Nationals in Philadelphia. The six-seeded Cougars upset the three-seeded Franklin and Marshall Diplomats by a score of 5-4.
Earning wins for Chatham were
Sofia Ramos Fortanelli,
Vasundhra Vasanthan,
Valentina Della Maddalena,
Sofia Pinto and
Giavanna Gibson. Ramos Fortanelli, Vasanthan, and Della Maddalena each earned 3-0 sweeps.
With the match tied at four winners for each school, Ramos Fortanelli secured her 3-0 win with a 12-10 final game to give the Cougars the victory.
In the next round, Women's Squash will take on the two-seeded Georgetown Hoyas for the second time this season. That match will start tomorrow morning at 9 AM.
