NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - February 15, 2023 - Chatham Women's Basketball battled to a 64-56 road win against Westminster on Wednesday evening. The Cougars are now 16-7 overall and 13-6 in conference play with the victory.
First year guard
Hannah Chenault led the way with 19 points on 6-12 shooting, including 5-10 shooting from beyond the arc. First year forward
Alyssa Laukus scored four points and pulled down a season-high nine rebounds to lead the team. Six different Cougars notched two steals, including Chenault and sophomore guard
Ashlie Louden, who netted 16 points. Sophomore guard
Emily Durkee tallied 14 points, scoring in double figures for the fifth time this season.
The Cougar offense started slow, with just two points in the first five minutes and just 11 in the first quarter. However, they flipped the script in the second quarter and scored 20 to go into half with a 31-30 lead. The Titans opened the second half with an 8-0 run, but the Cougars were resilient, keeping the game within reach and capitalizing in the fourth quarter. Chatham's 46-40 deficit turned quickly into a 50-49 lead and a 14-7 run to close the game from that point gave the Cougars all they needed.
The Cougars shot 81.3% (13-16) from the line, their best mark in a game this season. Chatham also had 13 steals and won the turnover battle 17-10, which resulted in 18 points off turnovers. The Cougars held the Titans to just 11.8% (2-17) from downtown, the lowest mark they've allowed this year.
Women's Basketball will wrap up the regular season Saturday afternoon at home against Franciscan before starting PAC Tournament action.
