PITTSBURGH, Pa. - February 1, 2023 - Chatham Men's Basketball suffered its third-straight defeat Wednesday night at the hands of Saint Vincent. The loss puts the Cougars at 10-10 on the year and 9-6 in conference play.
Junior guard
Simon Boyer led the team in scoring with 18 points on 7-13 shooting. Sophomore guard
Blaine Gartley stuffed the stat sheet, with 16 points on 8-12 shooting, seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals. Six steals is the most by a Chatham player this season and tied for the third most by any player in the PAC.
The Cougars jumped out to an early lead, but went into the break with a two-point deficit. The Bearcats opened the second half on an 8-0, but the Cougars rallied to take a one-point lead with 7:50 left. The two teams traded leads until Saint Vincent pulled away, going up by as many as nine down the stretch.
Chatham lost the rebouning battle 37-30, but narrowly won the turnover battle 16-15. The Cougars shot 50% (11-22) from beyond the arc, but were just 5-6 from the charity stripe.
Men's Basketball would like to extended a special thanks to their guest coaches of the game, Bill Campbell and his son. Campbell is currently the Vice President of Marketing & Communications at Chatham and has been with the university since 2012.
Men's Basketball is back in action at home on Saturday afternoon against Grove City.
