Women's Hockey Records Shutout Against Neumann

ASTON, Pa. (Dec. 8, 2023) - Five players scored in the Cougars' rout of the Neumann Knights (4-7-1, 0-6-1). After back-to-back losses against Nazareth, Chatham found redemption in game one of their season series with Neumann.

Freshman Lindsey Muldowney would find the back of the net first for Chatham, netting her first career goal on a solo shot. Midway through the opening period, the Cougars would score again on a power play. Junior Erin Carter earned her second goal of the season off assists from freshman Morgan Black and junior Rainey Jessup. Chatham entered the second period with a two-goal lead and the shot count leaning their way (12-7).

An even attack and numerous saves on both ends kept the score at 2-0 for majority of the period. It would not be until just over a minute remaining that Chatham added to their lead. Senior Allie Corser-James slapped in her sixth goal of the season (tied for fifth in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference) to extend the Cougars lead to 3-0. She was assisted by fellow senior Ally Nolan

A slew of third-period Neumann penalties provided the Cougars with multiple scoring opportunities. Senior Abi Fuzaylov capitalized on the first power play of the period with the help of Nolan and Corser-James. Then, Jessup would be rewarded with her fourth goal of the season by the guidance of senior Cameron Carmody and sophomore Liv McTavish

In her second shutout of the year, junior Lindsey Batz recorded 21 saves.

Women's Hockey will return to the ice on Saturday against the Knights at 2 p.m.
