PITTSBURGH, Pa. - December 6, 2023 - Chatham Women's Basketball (7-2, 5-1) set multiple program records in their 116-42 rout of the Thiel Tomcats (0-8, 0-6) on Wednesday at the AFC. The Cougars set new program highs for points (116), win margin (74) and field goals made (47).
Six different Cougars finished in double-figures, with junior guard
Charjae Brock leading the way at 16 points. Sophomore forward
Alyssa Laukus and junior guard
Aurielle Brunner each had 14 points on 6-7 shooting. Brunner added eight steals in just eight minutes of play. First year guard
Aliya Maldonado had a season-high 12 points and contributed two steals. Junior guard
Ashlie Louden and sophomore wing
Ella McDermott each netted 11 points, with Louden racking up four steals, three boards and three assists.
The Cougars took over the game right from the start, with a 20-3 run in the opening five minutes that was spurred by nine points and five steals from Brunner. The second quarter opened nearly the exact same as the first, with a 20-4 run to make the Chatham lead 44-13. The Cougars went 14-21 from the field in the second quarter and went into the break leading 60-22. The Cougars forced 15 Tomcat turnovers en route to a 35-8 third quarter. Chatham broke the program scoring record with 6:38 left in the fourth on a jumper from first year forward

The Cougars tallied 30 steals and forced 40 turnovers. They shot 54% (47-87) from the floor and 41.2% (14-34) from three-point range. A +22 rebound margin (50-28) is a season-high for Chatham. 13 different players scored for the Cougars and 15 players recorded at least one steal.
The Cougars will look to extend their win streak to seven when they face off against the Westminster Titans at home on Saturday.
