WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (Dec. 3, 2023) - The Cougars fell to Wilkes (8-3-0, 6-2-0) in overtime after a Colonels score with 50 seconds left in regulation. Chatham ends the season matchup with Wilkes with two losses.
The Cougars would be first to light the lamp on sophomore Cristian Adragna's score. The second-year forward was assisted by freshman Nicholas Babbie and sophomore True Crowe. Midway through the period, Wilkes responded to even the score on a power play.
Both teams would exchange blows in the second period, with junior Matthew Doyle being assisted by freshman Kyle Contessa and junior Zack Conner for his fourth goal of the year. Chatham had a chance to take the lead before entering the final period but could not capitalize on a power play.
The Cougars would take the lead late into the third on a Brendan Pomerantz score (assisted by sophomore Nick Cyprian and Contessa). However, a penalty call on Contessa opened an opportunity for the Colonels to tie the game, and they did with 50 seconds remaining on the clock.
In overtime, Wilkes would score in under a minute to win the game, handing the Cougars their third straight loss.
This was the fifth game this year that three or more Cougars scored. Cyprian led all players with 10 wins in the circle.
Men's Hockey will travel to Lebanon Valley on Friday for their next game.
