Women's Basketball Stomps Franciscan 95-59

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - December 2, 2023 - Chatham Women's Basketball (5-2, 4-1) dominated Franciscan (3-5, 1-4) by the score of 95-59 on Saturday at the Finnegan Fieldhouse. The Cougars forced 37 turnovers and racked up 21 steals, with 12 Chatham players recording at least one steal.

Sophomore forward Alyssa Laukus led the way with 16 points on 8-9 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds, all coming as new season highs. Junior forwards Samantha Hardy and Keegan McConahy each had 11 points and combined for nine rebounds and five steals. Junior guard Charjae Brock netted 10 points, marking her third game in a row in double-figures. Junior guard Aurielle Brunner scored 9 points and contributed four assists and four steals. Junior guard Emily Durkee and sophomore guard Hannah Chenault each had 8 points in 14 minutes off the bench.

Chatham's offense set program records for field goals made and field goal percentage on Wednesday in Bethany, and they picked up right where they left off in Steubenville. The Cougars opened the game on a 23-3 run and never looked back, leading from start to finish. Chatham outscored Franciscan 28-7 in the first quarter and forced 14 turnovers. The second quarter was much more even on the statsheet, but the flood gates had already opened for the Purple and Grey. A 30-point third period helped the Cougars to their largest point total of the season.

Chatham shot 49.4% (39-79) from the floor and won the rebounding battle 45-32. Neither team shot the deep ball particularly well, with the Cougars at 24% (6-25) and the Lady Barons at 23.1% (3-13). Chatham has 22 assists on the night, marking their second consecutive game with 20+.

Women's Basketball will return home Monday night to face Oberlin in a non-conference matchup.
