STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - December 2, 2023 - Chatham Men's Basketball (5-3, 3-2) took care of the Franciscan Barons (2-5, 1-4) by the score of 86-62 on Saturday at the Finnegan Fieldhouse. The Cougars used an all-around attack, with five scorers in double-figures.
Graduate forward
Elijah Sutton scored 19 points on 8-13 with six assists and four rebounds. Sophomore guard
Diaun Pinkett recorded his third double-double in the last four games with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Pinkett also had three steals and two blocks on the defensive end. The McKees Rocks, Pa. native leads the Cougars in rebounds, blocks and steals on the season. Junior guard
Isaiah Smith had 15 points on 5-10 shooting from deep, with all of his triples coming in a 10-minute span in the second half.
The Cougars started the game on an 8-0 run with the first six coming from Sutton. The Baron offense found its way back into the game, but the Cougars took a 34-26 lead into the halftime break. In the second half, the Chatham offense took over, with 52 points on 51.4% (19-37) shooting, including 7-14 from three-point range.
Overall, the Cougars shot 45.7% (32–70) from the floor and 35.7% (10-28) from downtown. Rebounds were 41-37 in favor of Chatham and the Cougars committed just eight turnovers to the Barons' 16.
Men's Basketball is back at the AFC on Wednesday to take on the Thiel Tomcats.
