BUFFALO, NY (Nov. 4, 2023) - The Cougars beat the Bengals (1-2-1) 4-1 after a draw in Friday's game. Chatham now stands at 1-0-1 after the weekend.
The Cougars scored first midway through the opening period on a goal by senior
Lauren Carmody. She was assisted by classmate
Cameron Carmody. After Buffalo State tied the game 20 seconds later, Chatham would score three unanswered goals to seal the victory.
Starting in the second period, junior
Rainey Jessup broke the tie with an assist from sophomore
Payton Lloyd. Then, 18 seconds into the third period, fifth-year
Brooke Almond scored an unassisted goal to make the count 3-1 in favor of the Cougars. Finally, Rainey netted the Cougar's fourth goal, her second, with assistance from both Lauren and
Cameron Carmody.
In goal, junior
Lindsey Batz saved 23 shots, posting a .960 save rate for the game. In faceoffs, the Cougars won 24 out of 52, with sophomore
Liv McTavish leading the way with nine.
The Purple and Gray will be back in New York on Friday, Nov. 10 to take on Manhattanville.
