PITTSBURGH, Pa. - November 21, 2023 - Chatham Men's Basketball (2-3, 1-2) fell to Geneva (5-0, 3-0) at the AFC on Tuesday night. The Cougars were unable to overcome hot shooting from the Golden Tornadoes.
Senior
Luca Robinson posted 20 points to lead the way for Chatham. He was 4-7 from three-point land and 4-4 from the charity stripe. Sophomore
Diaun Pinkett notched his first-career double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Junior
Blaine Gartley scored 11 points and added five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Senior
Simon Boyer knocked down three triples and finished with 13 points, three rebounds and three assists.
The two teams came out firing from deep as eight of the first 11 field goals were from beyond the arc. A 16-4 run midway through the first half gave Geneva a 29-18 lead and hot shooting from the Golden Tornadoes made it a tough hole for Chatham to climb out of. A 24-11 Cougar run in the second half cut the lead to just two with 8:34 to play, but Chatham was never able to pull level down the stretch.
Geneva shot 53.6% (30-56) from the field and 51.9% (14-27) from downtown. The Golden Tornadoes also took care of the ball, with only eight turnovers. Chatham won the rebounding battle 35-33 and made 13 treys of their own, but could not keep pace.
Men's Basketball will come out of the Thanksgiving break with a home game against Fredonia which will feature the ring ceremony for the PAC-champion 2022-23 Cougars.
