RYE, N.Y. (Nov. 11, 2023) - The Cougars rallied back against Manhattanville (3-0-1, 2-0-0) to win in overtime 3-2. The Cougars have won three straight and are 2-0 in conference play.
The Valiants capitalized on two power plays at the end of the first period to place Chatham in a two-goal deficit. It would not be until the end of the second period that the Cougars finally got on the board.
Chatham's first goal came on a power play by sophomore
Liv McTavish. The forward slapped in a rebound from junior Jessup Rainey. Then, seven seconds later, senior
Allie Corser-James netted an unassisted goal to tie the game heading into the third period.
In the final frame, the shots on goal favored Manhattanville 10-3. However, the Valiants were unable to find the back of the net with a player up midway through the period. In overtime, senior
Ally Nolan assisted Corser-James in scoring the game-winning goal.
The Purple and Gray held the Valiants to only two goals on eight power plays. As a team, the Cougars tallied 20 blocks, while sophomore
Samantha Brophy had 35 saves on 37 shots.
Chatham will host Stevenson in the Hunt Armory Ice Rink on Nov. 17.
