PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Nov. 11, 2023) - The Cougars dropped their second game against the visiting Utica Pioneers (4-0-2, 3-0-1). Chatham now sits in seventh place in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) with three points.
Utica would strike first on a short-handed goal in the first period. Junior
Carson Grainer tied the game in the second on a power play goal with assistance from sophomores
Bekk McClaine and
Nick Cyprian. The next four goals would be scored by the Pioneers, putting Chatham's deficit at 5-1.
Midway through the final period, junior
Matthew Doyle marked the second point for the Cougars off a pass from freshman
Nicholas Babbie. Then, four minutes later, sophomore
Cristian Adragna found freshman
Kadsen Johnson for his first career goal, closing the gap to 5-3. Utica would retake the momentum, scoring two goals in the final two minutes to bring the total to 7-3.
Chatham will travel to Aston, Pa. to take on Neuman on Nov. 17 and 18.
