PITTSBURGH, Pa. - November 11, 2023 - Chatham Men's Basketball suffered its first loss of the season in the final game of the Chatham Tip-Off Classic by the score of 97-73 against #5 Mount Union (2-0). The Cougars are now 1-1 on the year.
Junior
Isaiah Smith came off the bench to lead the Cougars with 16 points on 5-9 shooting, including 4-8 from deep. Sophomore
Diaun Pinkett notched a career-high 14 points and added five rebounds and four steals. Senior
Luca Robinson netted seven points, pulled down five boards and blocked two shots. Senior
Geoffrey Helm scored 12 points on four three-pointers.
The Cougars opened the game with two quick three balls from Helm and senior
Simon Boyer, but the Purple Raiders quickly found their footing and 15-0 run to go up 17-6. Mount Union kept Chatham at a sizable distance for the remainder of the contest as their offense could not be slowed.
The Purple Raiders out-rebounded the Cougars 39-24, while Chatham narrowly won the turnover battle 15-14. Mount Union's offense overwhelmed the Cougars as the Purple Raiders shot 58.7% (37-63) from the field.
