GREENVILLE, Pa. - October 7, 2023 - Chatham Women's Soccer earned its first conference win of the year with a 6-0 victory over the Thiel Tomcats (1-10-1, 0-6) at Alumni Stadium on Saturday. With the win, the Cougars are now 2-7-3 on the season and 1-4-1 in PAC play.
Chatham struck first in the 21st minute when junior
Ava Krepp threaded a pass through the defense to junior
Lauren Hall, who beat the keeper with one touch. Hall now has two goals on the season. The Cougars would increase their lead to 2-0 in the 31st minute when sophomore
Ainsley Smith drew a foul in the box and Krepp scored on the ensuing penalty kick for her first goal of the year.Â
Chatham did not slow down in the second half, as freshman
Addison Lloyd scored on a corner from Smith in the 68th minute and then Smith herself scored less than 40 seconds later. Smith would score again on a breakaway in the 71st minute and assist on another goal, this time from freshman
Alexis Damiano in the 76th minute.
Smith ended the day with two goals and two assists, bringing her season totals to seven goals and two assists for 16 points.
In net, junior
Katie Krecek stopped the only Tomcat shot on goal to earn her second shutout of the season. The Cougars had 12 shots on goal and took all eight of the match's corner kicks.
Women's Soccer returns home this Wednesday for their Play With Pride Game when they host the Franciscan Barons.
