BETHANY, W.V. - October 3, 2023 - Chatham Men's Soccer secured a 1-0 road win over the Bethany Bison (2-7-2, 1-2-1) at Hoag Field on Tuesday. With their second straight victory, the Cougars are now 3-7-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the PAC, which currently places them in fifth.
The lone goal of the match came in the 63rd minute when freshman
Azavier Coppin converted a penalty kick following a Bethany foul in the box on a Chatham corner. Coppin's goal tally now sits at nine on the year, which still leads the conference and ranks top-five in the country among freshmen.
In net, freshman
Maxwell Cottrill made six saves and earned his second shutout of the season. Cottrill has played in net for all three Cougar wins this year.
Chatham made the most of the penalty-kick goal, as it was their only shot on goal of the match, compared to Bethany's six. Corner kicks were 7-6 in favor of the Bison.
