PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 27, 2023) - The Cougars season opener ended with a 2-1 loss to SUNY Brockport (1-0-0). In a match that went to overtime, Brockport's Manny Sanchez scored the game-winning goal. 

The lone goal for the Cougars came by an assist from freshman Nicholas Babbie to sophomore Cristian Adragna at the 4:18 mark of the first. In that period, the shot total favored the Cougars 20-7, but that momentum did not carry through the rest of the game. 

The Golden Eagles would out-shoot the Purple and Gray 39-16 the rest of the way, leading to their first goal at the beginning of the third period. With under six minutes left, Brockport had a 5-3 powerplay to put away the game but could not find the back of the net. Then, at the 2:54 mark of overtime, Brockport converted on the game-winning goal. 

Chatham will travel to Brockport on Oct. 28 to rematch against the Golden Eagles at 5 p.m.
