GREENVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 20, 2023) - The Cougars swept PAC rival Thiel (2-19, 0-6) after their first loss in nine games against Westminster. Freshman
Becca Gesner set career highs across the board in this match to help Chatham get their 13th win.
The first-year right-side hitter had a career-high eight kills and nine points. Senior
Jena Williams led the team in kills (10) and points (11), while four other Cougars tallied at least five kills. Junior
Natalie Keough had a season-high 17 assists followed by freshman
Ava Plunkard's 15 to combine for 32 of Chatham's 38 assists. The Cougars also served nine aces on the evening led by senior
Meghan Dominek's four. Overall, the team had a much more efficient night hitting, finishing with a .268 attack percentage.
Defensively, the Purple and Gray held the Tomcats to an attacking percentage of .047, which is the Cougars' second-lowest for a conference matchup this year. Dominek (20) and sophomores
Alyssa Leskovac (10) and
Sierra Ricci (10) combined for 40 of Chatham's 67 digs. As a team, the Cougars blocked seven attacks. Seniors
Jessica Taney and
Amelia Bogovich tallied five of the seven, while Gesner tied a career-high two blocks.
Following this bounce-back performance, Women's Volleyball returns home for a matchup against Franciscan on Oct. 25.
