PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 25, 2023) - The Cougars earned their 10th win out of their last 11 games in a sweep over Franciscan (11-11, 2-5). The Cougars used a strong defensive effort to close out the Barons (25-15, 25-13, 25-19).
Franciscan hit a season-low -.016 on a total of 126 attacks. Sophomore
Alyssa Leskovac recorded the lone block for Chatham, but the team defended 80 total attacks. Senior
Meghan Dominek led the match with 26 digs as Leskovac and freshman
Ava Plunkard chipped in 13 and 10 respectively.
On the attacking end, the Purple and Gray recorded 42 kills and six service aces. Senior
Jena Williams led the match with 10 kills, while fellow classmate
Amelia Bogovich served three aces. Plunkard (17) and junior
Natalie Keough (16) combined for 33 of Chatham's 38 assists. Overall, the Cougars converted on .222 of their 126 attacks, leading to 48 offensive points.
This win was the Cougars' second consecutive. They are now positioned second in the PAC standings (14-5, 6-1), and will matchup against Grove City on Saturday, Oct. 28.
