PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 10, 2023) - In their sixth consecutive win, the Cougars swept Allegheny (14-7, 2-1) behind a career night from freshman
Paige Watson. Chatham now stands at the top of the PAC early in conference play with a record of 10-4, 2-0.
Watson tied for a match-high 11 kills and 12 points. Seniors
Jena Williams (6) and
Delaney O'Shea (5) were behind Watson, combining for 11. Freshman
Ava Plunkard led the team with 12 assists, while senior
Jessie Spoerndle set up eight points. The Cougars also served seven aces led by Plunkard (2) and senior
Amelia Bogovich (2).
The Purple and Gray defense held Allegheny to their lowest hitting percentage (.042.) and total point output (31) of the season. Chatham sent back four Gator attacks, led by Watson's and Bogovich's four combined block assists. Senior
Meghan Dominek defended 14 Allegheny attacks, followed by 12 from sophomore
Alyssa Leskovac and Plunkard's 10.
