GROVE CITY, Pa. - January 9, 2023 - Chatham Women's Basketball fell on the road 60-59 at Grove City on Monday night. The loss makes the Cougars 8-5 on the year and 5-4 in conference play.
First year guard
Hannah Chenault led the team scoring with 15 points on 5-8 shooting, which were all three-pointers. Chenault also led the team with four steals. Sophomore guard
Zelimar Rodriguez and first year forward
Alyssa Laukus tied for the team lead in both rebounds and assists, with six and four a piece, respectively.
The heartbreaking one-point loss came after the Cougars led by 12 at halftime and by as many as 16 in the third quarter. Grove City outscored Chatham 24-13 in the final frame to steal the narrow victory.
The Cougars led the game for over 33 minutes while the Wolverines led for under four minutes. Grove City dominated on the glass, winning the rebounding battle by a 53-35 margin. This marked the second-worst rebounding margin of the season for Chatham. However, the Cougars did scored 32 points off turnover compared to just 16 for the Wolverines.
Women's Basketball continues the road trip on Wednesday night as they take on Waynesburg.
