Women’s Hockey Completes UCHC Sweep of Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - January 7, 2023 - Chatham Women's Hockey concluded their regular season series at Wilkes University today, winning 6-3 for the second time this weekend.

The first period remained scoreless for both teams, but the streak was finally broken by junior Ally Nolan, who converted touches from line mates Allison Corser-James and Brooke Almond to find the back of the net. Almond would score the final goal of the period, with assists to Corser-James and classmate Cameron Carmody, to regain the lead after an equalizing goal from the hosts.

The third period more than made up for a scoreless first, with Chatham scoring four unanswered goals after Wilkes scored twice to take a 3-2 lead.

Cameron Carmody evened the score shortly after, followed in succession by Corser-James, Almond, and Nolan.

Almond finished with a team-high four points on two goals and two assists. Nolan and Corser-James trailed with three points apiece. Juniors Cameron Carmody and Abi Fuzaylov each won a game-high eight face-offs.

Defensively, first-year Kayla Clark logged a team-high three blocks while also adding an assist. Senior Dena Akers also recorded three blocks.

Junior goaltender Lilly Rogers made 31 saves in net, including 11 in the third period.

The Cougars now stand at 6-3-1 in conference play and 7-7-1 overall. They will host Utica University next Friday and Saturday at the historic Hunt Armory. Puck drop is at 7 PM both nights.
