PITTSBURGH, Pa. - January 5, 2023 - Chatham Women's Basketball secured a 55-48 home win over Westminster Thursday evening. The win puts the Cougars at 7-4 on the season and 4-3 in conference play.

Sophomore guard Ashlie Louden led the Cougars with 15 points, matching her season high. Louden also led the team with five assists and two steals. First year guard Katie Schaible pulled down seven rebounds, leading the team and adding five points. First year forward Alyssa Laukus scored 11 points, secured six boards and blocked two shots. Laukus has scored in double figures in seven of her last eight games.

It was a strong defensive showing from Chatham as they allowed just nine points in the first quarter and just 21 in the first half. The Cougars forced 22 turnovers and notched 11 steals, while committing a season-low seven turnovers of their own. Chatham's largest lead of 15 points was cut to just four in the final quarter, but they maintained it down the stretch with more solid defense.

Westminster won the rebounding battle 50-38 and held Chatham to just 20-69 (29.0%) shooting, but were unable to overcome the wide turnover margin. The Cougars scored 19 points off turnovers while the Titans scored just six.
