MEADVILLE, Pa. - January 3, 2023 - Chatham Women's Basketball suffered a 79-71 road loss against the Allegheny Gators Tuesday afternoon. Following the loss, the Cougars are now 6-4 overall and 3-3 in conference play on the season.
Sophomore guard
Zelimar Rodriguez scored a career-high 22 points on 9-14 shooting, including four three-pointers. First year forward
Alyssa Laukus matched her season high with 18 points and tied for the team lead in rebounds with five. Sophomore guard
Emily Durkee scored 10 points and led the Cougars with five assists.
The first half saw 17 lead changes in an extremely tight affair. The Cougars were able to use a 9-4 run to take a five-point lead into halftime. The third quarter stayed locked up and the two teams went into the fourth quarter tied at 54 after first year guard
Hannah Chenault drained a shot from beyond half court at the buzzer ending the third quarter. The Gators opened the final frame with a 10-3 run and were able to maintain the lead for the rest of the contest.
The Gators won the rebounding battle 47-33, including 28-16 on the defensive glass. Allegheny was 17-21 (81.0%) on free throws, while Chatham was just 5-12 (41.7%).
Women's Basketball is back in action Thursday at home against Westminster.
