WASHINGTON, Pa. - January 25, 2023 - Chatham Women's Basketball fell to host W&J 59-56 Wednesday night. The loss puts the the Cougars at 11-6 on the year and 8-5 in conference.
Sophomore guard
Aurielle Brunner led the team with 14 points and five assists. Brunner added three steals to her PAC-leading season total of 53. Sophomore guard
Ashlie Louden scored 12 points and was one of three Cougars to record four steals, matching sophomore guards
Emily Durkee and
Zelimar Rodriguez.
Chatham was down by double-digits in the second quarter and faced a six-point halftime deficit, but bounced back in the second half. The Cougars narrowed the Presidents' lead to just one at the end of the third quarter and took the lead in the fourth. The two teams traded baskets down the stretch to keep the game tied before W&J's Bryn Bezjak buried a three-pointer as time expired.
The Presidents out rebounded the Cougars 49-32, but committed 22 turnovers that led to 24 Chatham points. The Cougars hit double-digit three-pointers (11) for the sixth game in a row and for the ninth time in the last 11 contests.
Women's Basketball is back again on the road against Bethany on Saturday.
