WAYNESBURG, Pa. - January 11, 2023 - Chatham Men's Basketball came out of Waynesburg with a 63-60 win Wednesday night. The win puts the Cougars at 8-7 on the year and 7-3 in conference play.
Senior guard
Marcos Cintron paced the Cougars with 23 points on 8-15 shooting including 4-7 from deep. Junior guard
Simon Boyer and sophomore guard
Blaine Gartley each led the team with five rebounds a piece. Boyer, Gartley and graduate guard
Nick Bomar each tallied three assists in the winning effort.
The Yellow Jackets took a two-point lead into the break after a tight first half. The teams stayed deadlocked for most of the game, as each team's largest lead was just five points, but it was the Cougars who pulled away at the end thanks to a clutch three-point play by Gartley in the final minute.
Both teams shot over 40% from the field but the Cougars buried 11 triples compared to just four for the Yellow Jackets. Waynesburg out rebounded Chatham 35-26, but turned the ball over 14 times compared to Chatham's eight turnovers. The Cougars outscored the Yellow Jackets 19-6 on points off turnovers.
Men's Basketball is back on the road Saturday afternoon to take on Franciscan.
