UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - September 7, 2022 - Chatham Women's Volleyball traveled across state lines tonight to face out-of-conference opponent John Carroll. The Blue Streaks stood tall on home court, defeating the Cougars 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-22).
The Cougars would strike first in set one, thanks to a kill from junior Amelia Bogovich. She was followed by sophomore Jessica Taney and classmate Delaney O'Shea with kills of their own, supplemented by a few errors from the home team to increase their point count. Taney would pull ahead on the Cougars' kill leaderboard, where she was soon joined by first-year Abigail Willott. To round out the set, first-year Alyssa Leskovac and Bogovich would get on the board, but John Carroll was quick to seal the set.
The Blue Streaks would pull ahead early in the second until Leskovac wrecked their point streak with a kill. She'd add three more in short succession, separated only by a kill from O'Shea. The Cougars would force several errors out of the host team, bringing the game to a 12-point tie. John Carroll would power through, however, ending the game at 25-18 once again.
The third and final set featured as much as a six-point lead by the Cougars, thanks to O'Shea, Taney, Leskovac, and senior Rylee Ritko, who would record both a kill and a block for the visiting squad. Leskovac and O'Shea would continue to put up points for Chatham, but John Carroll's momentum proved to be too much as they pulled ahead late in the game.
The Cougars hit the road once again next week as they travel to Pitt Greensburg for another non-conference matchup.
