WAYNESBURG, Pa. - April 7, 2022 - Chatham Softball traveled to Waynesburg University this afternoon for a conference double header. Waynesburg got an early jump in both games, leaving the Cougars unable to catch up. The final scores were 15-0 and 12-4, both in five innings.
The Cougars were dealt a tough start in game one, facing a tough Yellow Jacket pitcher who would expire ten Chatham batters. Chatham finished the game with two hits, supplied by catcher Mackenzie Dunn and designated player Isabelle Griswold.
The visitor offense would pick up in the second game, with Chatham striking first for three straight runs across the first two innings. Griswold alone would drive in two RBIs, one would come from Dunn, and Lauren McNany would steal home for the final run of the day. McNany finished the game with three steals.
Chatham's seven hits came from McNany (2), Dunn, Griswold, Justine Boyle, Paige Shaftic, and Kaitlyn Collins.
The Cougars return to play this coming Saturday, April 9th, at home against Saint Vincent College in another conference double header.
