PITTSBURGH, Pa. - April 10, 2022 - Chatham University hosted Saint Vincent College this afternoon in a PAC Softball matchup. Despite two losses to the conference's top squad 10-3 and 12-3 respectively, several Cougars, including sophomore Mackenzie Dunn, made notable offensive contributions.
Game one was dominated by the Bearcat offense, as they scored eight unanswered runs. In the bottom of the sixth, junior Kaitlyn Collins would drive in junior Lauren Haak for the first run of the day. She would be credited with a second RBI off of a walk in the seventh to advance graduate student Paige Shaftic home.
Chatham would get the jump on Saint Vincent in game two, with Mackenzie Dunn crushing a two-run homer over the left-center fence. Scoring with Dunn was Lauren Haak, who had gotten on with an outfield single.
Haak would be responsible for the Cougars' final run of the day as well, scoring Shaftic with a hard-hit triple. Shaftic herself went three-for-four at the plate in game one.
On the mound, Dunn and senior Emily Nay would each strike out two batters.
The Cougars are back in action on Tuesday, April 12th at Washington & Jefferson.
