STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - April 23, 2022 - Women's Lacrosse headed to Franciscan University this afternoon for their first matchup with the Barons this season. Despite the first quarter ending in a 4-4 tie, Franciscan would have a productive second quarter that would ultimately doom the Cougars. The game ended with a 17-8 score in favor of the Barons.
Senior Brielle Rapsas would start the scoring for the Cougars, and she was followed by first-year Samantha Beall-Dennell for two straight goals. Junior Bailey Donofrio would round out the quarter with her first goal of the game.
The Cougars would go scoreless in the second and fourth quarters, but applied their offense once again in the third through Beall-Dennell and Rapsas. Adding to the scoresheet as well were junior Phallon Kilduff and sophomore Stephanie Walter.
In goal, keeper Aria Dietrich made 13 saves. In front of her, Beall-Dennell and senior Kristin MacConnell both recorded a team-high two caused turnovers.
The Cougars' next contest is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27th at home against Thiel.
