WASHINGTON, Pa. - April 12, 2022 - Chatham Softball traveled to Washington this evening for a conference double header against the Washington and Jefferson College Presidents. The Cougars would notch their first PAC win of the season in game one by a score of 5-1 before the hosting Presidents took game two by a one-run margin.
Junior Kaitlyn Collins was the star of the game at the plate, going three-for-four with four of Chatham's five runs batted in. Also earning recognition were graduate students Paige Shaftic and Lauren McNany as well as junior Justine Boyle, all three of whom finished game one with two hits. Both of Boyle's hits were doubles, supplementing one from Collins.
On the mound, senior Emily Nay would pick up her fifth win of the season with two strikeouts and just six hits allowed.
Game two was scoreless through 4.5 innings, thanks to a relentless pitching battle between Nay and W&J's Alisha Kulka. A fifth inning three-run homer by the Presidents would give them the game-winning edge despite seventh-inning RBI knocks from Justine Boyle and first-year Madison Fisher.
The Cougars are back in action on Saturday, April 16th at Thiel.
