Oberlin Steals Two from Chatham in Non-Conference Twin Bill

OBERLIN, Ohio - March 30, 2022 - Chatham Softball traveled to Oberlin College this afternoon for a non-conference double header. Despite two close games, Oberlin would ultimately take both by scores of 9-5 and 13-8 respectively.

In game one, the Cougars would score two first-inning runs thanks to several walks by the Yeowoman pitcher and a hard-hit ground ball from Mackenzie Dunn to score Paige Shaftic.

Lauren Haak would ink her name in the book with a solo home run in the second to extend the Cougars' lead to three. For their fourth run, Emily Seamon would use her speed to get home from second, picking up on the base path for Kaitlyn Collins who crushed a left-field line double. Seamon would notch a double of her own in the fifth, scoring Haak.

Unfortunately, a dominant fourth inning by the Yeowoman would seal the Cougars' fate.

Chatham's game two offense saw considerable stats in the third, beginning with a two-run double from Collins. Following Collins was Isabelle Griswold, also hitting a double for an extra run. McNany would drive Griswold in with yet another double in her next at-bat.

Down by seven in the sixth, Isabella Siren would knock her first collegiate hit to center for a single, followed by an RBI double from Dunn and an RBI single from Collins.

Top seven saw an RBI from Savanna Ahlborn for the last Cougar run of the day.

Chatham is back in action at home this weekend when they host Bethany at 1 and 3 PM on Saturday in their conference opener.
