GROVE CITY, Pa. – February 9, 2022 – The Chatham men's basketball team could not replicate the same success it had 48 hours prior against Grove City, falling to the hosting Wolverines 70-65 Wednesday night. It drops Chatham's record to 17-2 overall and 12-2 in PAC play.
Much like the prior three games, Chatham struggled to produce the same amount of offense it was accustomed to for most of the year. The Cougars were held to their fewest first half total at 19, trailing the Wolverines 21-19 at the break.
The second half was like prior contests for Chatham, this time scoring 46 points. However, the lack of rebounding throughout the game cost the Cougars. The visitors were outrebounded 55-32, with the Wolverines hitting late free throws to secure the victory.
Despite the large rebounding disparity, Chatham took good care of the basketball, only committing eight turnovers and converting 18 Grove City turnovers into 25 points off turnovers. Leading scorer was senior
Malik Potter with 20 points and finishing just one rebound away from a double double. Junior
Brandon Lavernia had 13 off the bench and classmate
Marcos Cintron chipped in a dozen.
Chatham looks to get back in the win column on Saturday with a home affair against Bethany College. Tip-off is 2:00.
