NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - February 7, 2022 - Chatham Women's Basketball traveled to Westminster College this evening for their second matchup of the season. After a back and forth game, the Cougars would ultimately come up short, falling to the Titans 46-43.
Graduate students Julianna Skowron and Maddy Grennes got the scoring started for the Cougars, followed by first-year Emily Durkee for Chatham's nine points in the first quarter.
The Cougars would pull ahead in the second thanks to Grennes and Smith as well as first-years Zelimar Rodriguez and Keegan McConahy. Chatham would have their first lead of the game heading into the second half of the game at 20-19.
Junior Riley D'Angelo would hit a three to start the third, which started a scoring rally for the Cougars. Returning to the point streak were Skowron and Rodriguez, who were joined by first-year Aurielle Brunner. Up 35-28 after 30 minutes of play, the Titans would unfortunately make a comeback.
In the fourth, the Titans would limit the Cougars to just ten additional points, provided by junior Sierra McClain, Smith, Skowron, and Grennes. The score was tied with just under two minutes to go, but fouls would unfortunately doom the Cougars as the Titans capitalized on free throws.
